Open book

Few days ago I was on a hackathon and it was very good event as usually all kind of event like that. You can learn a lot of things form very smart experts and if I examine for example the github.com where you can learn interesting things about how to implement some application, software etc., then i must declare it is a possibility to learn something new. Sharing the knowledge is one of the biggest power of the humanity. Besides I like to write novel and after some association I have been an idea. Why just the software can be open source and why just the software has a version control system? Can a novel be created by some community like some programmers can contribute a mutual software. For these and other question I try to initiate a project, a research. I try to write a novel cooperation with other people through all over the world using github.com.

I called it Social Writing Novel or Open Book. So I am looking for enthusiastic persons from all over the world who want to contribute in this project. The topic of the tentical novel is: the basis of successful collaboration with other people is overcome our weaknesses therby learning about ourselves. The title is Unknown universe. The repository you can find here: https://github.com/golya/unknown-universe/

Some thoughts and questions about the expectations, assumptions:

  • First of all it just can be successful when you find eager persons who like create something new.
  • Can this "cooperated" novel be a real product?
  • How many contributors can work together?
  • Is it exciting to see the history of editing or see the history of sentences, paragraphs, chapters?
  • Anyway can it be successful or this is not more than just role playing?
  • Can you learn from other persons by this way?
  • Can non-programmer persons use efficiently the version control system?
